WHO WE ARE

Pearl Generation Uganda hereafter referred to as (PG-Ug), is a non-profit making, charitable, voluntary non-partisan independent and autonomous Youth civil society organization that Establishes linkages with Development Partners and Philanthropists with the ultimate GOAL of empowering communities in Uganda

BUT also across Africa with the necessary skills that can enable them realize and exploit the readily available potential and opportunities amongst them. The approach taking is largely that of engagement that can only be sustained if individuals in the community are empowered and take keen interests in helping themselves as well as the others with a focus on common goals and achievements.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE

  1. Establish linkages with development and philanthropists with the ultimate goal of empowering youth communities in Uganda but also across Africa with the necessary skills that can enable them realize and exploit their intrinsic potential and opportunities amongst them, taking into consideration diversity and cross-cutting issues such as gender and all forms disabilities.
  2. Conduct scientific research on youth related aspects in a bid to present lasting solutions
  3. Encourage and implement programs geared towards economic empowerment through training in vocational skills and other relevant areas where the youth have a comparative advantage.
  4. Improve and provide knowledge in areas of Health, Micro business management, social life skills and wider community sensitization in the above and other related fields.
  5. Provide guidance and counselling to the youth most especially those in the education system to empower them to make appropriate preparations to face the outside world after their academic life with a view of empowering them to make a significant contribution to national development through talent based approach.
  6. Provide a platform for all relevant stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue on policy issues that affect the youth with a view to make informed key policy recommendations for the youth in Uganda.
  7. Enhance learning through networking, documenting, facilitating and sharing experiences and best practices among the youth with a view of creating a think tank of the youth that will champion the provision of alternative policy positions that enhance youth livelihood in the country.
  8. Develop recourse centres on youth empowerment within the Ugandan context on policy, education and career development, compile, disseminate and manage knowledge to facilitate and advise the youth on appropriate life choices and livelihood development.
  9. Provide consultancy and technical advice and services on areas related to youth empowerment and development.
  10. Establish links and networks with stakeholders in the promotion of the objectives of the Company.
  11. Organize and mobilize resources globally to implement the objectives of the Company.
  12. To empower vulnerable groups and rural communities by planning and implementing capacity building activities, as well as income generating initiatives, especially Health, agriculture, agribusiness and innovative skill development among others;
  13. To lobby and advocate for policies, laws and actions that favors the needs and interests of rural through networking and collaboration with local and international organizations;
  14. To build capacity of local actors, and strengthen partnership with other humanitarian and development actors, to ensure long–term, sustainable development.

  7. Innovation, Inclusiveness and Participation: PG-UG believes in making a positive change in the lives of the people in need using innovative, inclusive, bottom-up approaches aimed at empowering communities and individuals.

PGs’ objectives include improving and providing knowledge base in Health, Micro businesses plus providing inspirations, guidance and counseling to the youth most especially those in education centers to get them make proper preparations to face the outside world after school and making their contribution to the national demands visible through conducting wider scientific research on youth related aspects, Organize and mobilize resources globally to implement the objectives of the Company, platform for dialogue on policy analysis with attempts to make informed key policy recommendations for our country, wider community sensitization in the above mentioned fields. The organization was formed in April 2015 by a group of youths spearheaded by Mr. Mugerwa Innocent Robin Jr as the team leader and founder, Ms Mutesi Gloria, Ms Tusiingwire Victoria, Mr. Buhangazi Lincoline, Mr. Maraka Jonathan, Mr. Luwaga Emmanuel and Mr. Ogwang James Timothy.

What we have done

We as PG-Ug have engaged activities including paying school free and looking after the  children of the prison mates that are on life imprisonment and remand in conjunction with another NGO called Wells of Hope that has provided the a home and school for these children in Nakasenka District in an area called Semuto within this school we as PG-Ug, we help provide clothes basic necessities with the help of friends and we have also managed to carryout guidance and counseling in this school and home like during the youth campus held at the school by the NGO. Furthermore have helped in organizing and also celebrating with these children their special days like birthdays and charismas parties.

We have also organized and carried out a needs assessment in Kaabong district Kamion Sub-county well known as “The IK land” with the Rotary Uganda (the Rotaract club of Kampala East), this was aimed finding the actual problems faced by the IK community and how well to solve these problems and it also aimed at how well we could design programs and implement in both their education health structure for the youth in the area

We also recently organized a Work Place readiness workshop at the Makerere University Business School-Block 3 (Upper). The aim for this workshop was to help the students find career direction and focus, develop ability to communicate effectively, build self-esteem and confidence and create awareness of the skills and qualities that employers are looking for in the people they would most like employ. The workshop was fully facilitated by Ms Susan Okot the training material designer and also the Human Resource Manager Eager air.
